On November 17, the Union of Greek Communities of Georgia in Tbilisi invited Panayiotis Kyrmanidis and Babis Kyrmanidis, specialists in Pontian dances and national costumes. At the invitation of the President of the Union of Greek Communities of Georgia Eugenia Kotanidi, the President of the Union of Greek Communities of Armenia Maria Lazareva and representatives of the Union also attended a workshop on Pontic culture.
During the master class, the guests showed a video and a story about Pontic dances, and then presented a lecture about the meaning of dance movements. Babis Kyrmanidis demonstrated on the spot the national costumes of Pontic women and men, the importance of their manufacture and wearing.
A theoretical lesson was followed by practice, and representatives of the Greek communities of Georgia and Armenia were given the opportunity to study the main movements of Pontic dances under the direction of Panagiotis Kyrmanidis and accompaniment of the Pontic lyre by Babis Kyrmanidis.
The presidents of the unions of the Greek communities in the two neighboring countries confidently noted that this is the basis for sustainable cooperation between the two unions, and Panagiotis and Babis Kirmanidis promised that such a cultural event could be expected in Armenia.
